5 Things I’ve Needed To Do To Run A Business Making $50-$100k Months In My First Year Postpartum

There’s something oddly empowering about emerging from household sickness, especially when you’re navigating it as a new parent while running a business. In my household, we’ve just come through one of those brutal rounds where everyone in the house was unwell—and if you’ve been there, you know how challenging it becomes when you’re juggling a sick baby alongside everything else that needs your attention! But here’s what I’ve learnt to hold onto: there’s always an ascension on the other side of these challenging seasons, a sense that you’re stepping into something greater having weathered the storm.

Today, I’m sharing the 5 essential things I’ve had to master to maintain a business generating $50-100K months during my first year as a mama. This isn’t just about motherhood—it’s about how you sustain high-performing business operations when life throws you massive changes and you’re still fundamentally running everything yourself with support.

Whether you’re navigating your own major life transition or simply curious about maintaining business momentum during intense seasons, these insights come from the trenches of figuring out how to keep showing up and running your business exceptionally well when everything else feels like it’s shifting around you.

1. Resist the Urge to Overcomplicate

Here’s a little secret – the less you mess with your business, the better, especially during times of personal transformation. Trust me, when everything else in life was in flux, the last thing I needed was to overcomplicate my business. I had to resist that urge to constantly tweak and change. Instead, I relied on the solid foundation I’d already built, which allowed for a straightforward, no-fuss transition back into the mix, especially with my Scalable Freedom Mastermind at the helm.

2. Embrace Your Support Squad

Motherhood can make you feel like you’re not always the leader you aspire to be. But you know what? That’s perfectly alright. Leaning into my incredible team (a shoutout to my amazing colleagues, our nanny, my mum and of course, Che) was crucial. Even on those off days, having an open dialogue with my team, admitting when I needed help, and trusting them to keep the gears turning was everything.

3. Finding My New Groove

Adjusting to my newest season meant sometimes feeling less “magnetic” than I was accustomed to. But here’s the thing – I realised magnetism isn’t just about being super high-energy; it’s about being authentic and present. I reminded myself that even amidst sleep-deprived days, my natural pull and energy were still strong, keeping me connected to my clients and sparking continuous growth.

4. Keep Business Boundaries Clear

Let me tell you, personal stuff can really mess with your headspace if you’re not careful. I learnt to keep my personal ups and downs from spilling over into my business mindset. Especially during those hormone-driven moments (thank you, postpartum), recognising what was real versus what was just a temporary emotional blip kept everything in balance.

5. Make Flexibility Your Friend

Now, let’s talk discipline paired with flexibility – something that might seem contradictory at first. But with a little one dictating my schedule (mostly), being adaptable while staying disciplined was key. Whether that meant shifting work to late-night hours or squeezing in bits and pieces throughout the day, staying fluid yet focused allowed me to maintain my standards and service commitments without compromising on family time.

I hope these insights give you a little inspiration for your journey, proving that you can absolutely conquer major life changes without sacrificing business growth. Life in transformation doesn’t spell disaster for your business; instead, it proves how resilient and adaptive you can truly be.
